THE FITNESS CHALLENGE

As part of the Universal City North Hollywood Chamber of Commerce's desire for the community to thrive, our members care about the well-being of others. Physical fitness is an integral part of good health and well-being. In that regard, on Saturday, July 25, 2009 the Universal City North Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will be holding a FITNESS CHALLENGE at the East Valley Y.M.C.A. Whether or not you are physically fit, you are invited to take part in this combination exercise and charitable fund-raiser. The Y.M.C.A. is at 5142 Tujunga Avenue, North Hollywood, CA 91601.

The purpose of the event is to provide an opportunity for various charities (501 (c) 3s) to raise funds for their worthwhile causes while having fun and promoting physical fitness. The chamber is looking for individuals, charities, employers and prize donors to participate. While each charity will need to recruit their own contributors, funds from other participants, who have not designated a specific charity, will be able to donate to one or more of the participating charities.

Participants can sign up individually, or as teams. Sign-up forms are at www.noho.org. The individual and team participants can compete against each other, or just enjoy exercising. The exercises include pushups, pull-ups, sit-ups, and some step tasks.

Be a participant by racking up points through exercises, or $ponsor somebody who exercises. Except for some nominal expenses, all funds you and your sponsors contribute will go to the charities. While prizes are for winners in different age or other categories, exercising makes you a winner in health matter.

Prize donors, who are needed, will be publicized, along with the participating charities. At this time, the Y.M.C.A., Boy Scouts of America (Soccer and Scouting), American Cancer Society, and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society are participating. We thank Village Joe for already donating a dozen prizes. We are proud to have the co-sponsorship of the United Chambers of Commerce, the Economic Alliance, and the Valley Industry and Commerce Association.

The event will attract a lot of attention to the Chamber's website (www.noho.org), which has a Directory of all Chamber Members, and the services and products we provide.
